Well, hey, guess what? When you sign up with Impress.ly you get one. Magic!

In case you’re too embarrassed to ask what a professional email address is (and why the heck you even need one), we’re going to let you in on the secret.

First, here are examples of unprofessional email addresses:

  1. luvnpeace4eva@aol.com
  2. iheartmycat1972@yahoo.com
  3. joe.smith@gmail.com
  4. Impressly@gmail.com

What do all of these have in common? Well, numbers one and two are straight up ridiculous, and if you think anything resembling either of those make sense in a professional setting, you may need to rethink your career choice.

But the sad news is that the second two are just as awful — yes, really. While three and four are a step up from one and two; that’s a mere, very tiny step.

What Does a Professional Email Address Look Like?

One of the key differentiators between an amatuer and a professional business owner, is their email address. While this may not be fair, it’s true. We’re humans and for better or worse, we sometimes judge. So, let’s put our collective feet forward and get ourselves business savvy email addresses.

A professional email address will display your business name and your email address. For example, let’s say your business name is “Coffee Haven.” As the owner of Coffee Haven you want an email address that looks something like this:

firstname.lastname@coffeehaven.com or firstinitial.lastname@coffeehaven.com

Others email formats that follow best practices for business include:

info@coffeehaven.com
support@coffeehaven.com
accounting@coffeehaven.com
marketing@coffeehaven.com

…and you get the picture.

Now, is this type of pro email address the end all and be all of your business success? Absolutely not. But it certainly gives you a leg up when a potential customer is evaluating your products and services for purchase. And luckily, Impress.ly has your back.
